    Position Summary

    The DevOps / Monitoring Engineer is a member of the Crowe DevOps Team and will work toward the team’s overall goals of bringing DevOps culture, processes and tools to the firm.  This person will be responsible for designing and implementing continuous implementation/continuous deployment (CI/CD) functionality across the firm’s many development projects.

     

    In particular, this individual will lead the DevOps Team in the implementation and configuration of real-time monitoring, alerting, and reporting across the wide-array of Crowe’s development and operations infrastructure.  They will collaborate with various teams to ensure the health and performance of the firm’s environments and applications. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Work with IT Operations and Software Development teams to design, implement, automate and manage processes for development, build, testing, deployment and monitoring for both on-premise and cloud-based environments.
    • Work directly with application owners to understand and establish monitoring requirements.  Implement monitoring and alerting solutions to provide early detection of performance issues or outages.  Provide root-cause analysis and solutions for incidents raised via monitoring.
    • -Assist the DevOps Team in keeping up to date on DevOps technologies and identifying opportunities to apply them to our firm’s needs.  In particular, participate and direct efforts with regard to health and performance monitoring.
    • Work with development teams to establish monitoring best practices.  This includes internal monitoring such as instrumenting/profiling application code, and external monitoring by using tools such as Microsoft Azure Monitor, Microsoft Application Insights, SCOM, etc.
    • The ability to manage a number of projects, and be able to adjust quickly to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
    • Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high quality.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in DevOps and monitoring
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices, processes and culture.
    • Familiar with typical DevOps tools.  Experience in any of the specifically listed tools a major plus:
      • Configuration Management: (Ansible)
      • Distributed Source Control: (Git)
      • Development Platforms: (Visual Studio, Azure DevOps )
      • Build: (Visual Studio/MS Build, NPM)
      • Deployment: (Octopus Deploy)
      • Testing: (Selenium)
      • Scripting: (PowerShell)
      • Cloud-based and on-premises monitoring tools
    • Administrative skills and experience with the Microsoft technology stack (Windows, IIS, SQL Server, etc.)
    • Strong scripting, automation and systems-related programming skills
    • Experience in Azure cloud technologies, including deployment, elastic workloads (cloud-based scaling, containers, etc.), ARM templates, and monitoring facilities
    • Ability to travel occasionally.
